I won't go on and on about the details of my first day (it was WONDERFUL!). I do have to say, though, that there is going to be a lot to learn this year and today taught me that. So, here are just a few things I learned on my first day of high school (again):
1. High school is never going to change. Not a bad thing, not a good thing, just a thought. High school will always bring nerves, pressure, and confusion, but it is also an environment of great change and growth!
2. As much as a self-proclaimed semi-perfectionist I think myself to be, the teaching profession has no room for "perfect," but a lot of room for "growth." I am grateful that I came to this realization today and not 3 months down the road...
3. Ice breakers and get to know you activities are a love/hate relationship. And I still get nervous trying to recite everyone's name in the circle name game!
4. Nerves and excitement come with the first day of school, whether I am a student or a teacher, but I will always claim it as one of my favorite days of the year!
5. Orange... not such a bad color to wear/ decorate your room with/ celebrate after all.
Thank you to everyone that guided me, advised me, and cheered me on to get to this point. I can't believe my first day teaching (ever!!) has come and gone, but I am looking forward to many more teaching "firsts" to come this year!
Here is me in front of my AWESOME mod for the first day! My school is undergoing construction for the year, but I have to say, I am enjoying have an air conditioner of my own! :)
